Men in most societies are hunters and more and more black gay and bisexual men are expanding their sex seeking-hunting grounds beyond the American mainland.
Although Puerto Rico has long been a favorite getaway of men in the know, more and more black gay and bisexual men , over the past decade or so, have expanded their vacation and erotic haunts to "gay friendly" Caribbean and South American destinations that have large populations of men of African descent such as the Dominican Republic and Brazil.
Hey, one look at men like Dominican track star Felix Sanchez and you get the picture.
But what impact does our ever expanding field of international sex partners, in an ever shrinking world, have on HIV/AIDS prevention efforts?
Some Black HIV positive men have described these get-aways as an opportunity to be "normal" again. This might suggest that some of these men use this time of international anonymity to be uninhibited and unconcerned about their HIV status while abroad.
This is just a little food for thought and a word of caution to our brothers in America and abroad to continue to enjoy the international flavors of men of African descent but to do it safely and responsibly.
