R. KELLY TRIAL IN MAY

R. Kelly (born Robert Sylvester Kelly on January 8, 1967 in Chicago) sang songs that often included explicit sexual references, such as "Bump N' Grind", "Feelin' on Yo Booty", and "Ignition." Although his choice in songs doesn't make him a child molester, that video tape just might.

You probably remember that on June 6, 2002, Kelly was indicted on 21 counts of having sexual intercourse with a minor. The charges, which were later reduced to soliciting a minor for child pornography, stemmed from a video tape allegedly showing Kelly having sex with a 14-year-old girl.

The Kelly case has dragged on for five years without a trial and originated with 14 counts of child pornography filed against him in 2002 for allegedly videotaping himself having sex with an allegedly underage girl.

Kelly, 41, has pleaded not guilty to the charges and faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted.
The judge in his case has set the start of his trial on May 9, 2008.
