Paulo Pascoal - Beyond Beautiful

Model, Actor, Singer, Paulo Pascoal was born in Africa and raised around the world. This chocolate beauty was on his way to becoming a priest when he had a change of heart and headed to NYC.

Learn about Paulo in his own words.

"Geez... I enjoy... living at edgy extremes, exploring risks and FUN People... think i've lived several lives in one Lifetime: Once i was a kid from Africa, today i help them have the same opportunities that i did. I lived during the War and saw people being killed, including my Father.

As a teen, I began studying to be a Priest in Spain, but after 6 years of study, it didn't quite work out.

I've been a rebel and i've been to jail! I've been a Saint but i know i'm going to Hell!

Barely an adult, I attended two great schools in NYC and went from architecture to accidental model, from back up dancer to singer, from tie designer to screen-writer, from soap-opera actor to big screen features, they're all different shades of the same thing: ART.

I'm tall and short, rich and poor, black and white, male... uhm... no never female! But i could work that out...haha... confusing?? Call it Diverse!

I'm over exposed in some places, in others I'm just the unknown... then I have Fun!

I'll be good at all that I do cuz I'm Lucky. "Luck: is when preparation meets opportunity"... and damn... I'm READY! I was lost but now I'm found, i'll be lost again one day and you'll find me!"

Janet Jackson Hospitalized

NEW YORK - A representative for Janet Jackson says the singer has been hospitalized after falling ill shortly before a concert.
According to statement released by W&W Public Relations, the singer canceled her concert in Montreal on Monday after she "got suddenly ill" during her sound check and had to be rushed to the hospital just before show time.
The statement says Jackson is being monitored at the hospital and hopes to reschedule the show. No further information was given about Jackson's condition.
A phone call placed to W&W after hours went unanswered, and a representative did not immediately return an e-mail seeking more information.
Jackson, 42, is on a North American tour.

Brad Pitt Supports Same-Sex Marriage

Brad Pitt, has donated $100,000 to support gay marriage rights, The Associated Press reported. Mr. Pitt made the donation to fight Proposition 8, an initiative on California’s November ballot that would overturn the state Supreme Court decision to legalize same-sex marriage. On Wednesday Mr. Pitt said, “Because no one has the right to deny another their life, even though they disagree with it, because everyone has the right to live the life they so desire if it doesn’t harm another and because discrimination has no place in America, my vote will be for equality and against Proposition 8.” Earlier this week Mr. Pitt and his wife, Angelina Jolie, announced that they had donated $2 million to help fight H.I.V./AIDS and tuberculosis in Ethiopia.

Lehman Brothers' bankruptcy to change the face of banking

LONDON: In what is being described as the Mother of all Mondays, the fabled Wall Street will never be the same again. Financial commentators are talking about a tectonic shift that will change the face of the world's banking sector as we know it. Markets world wide are reeling from the after effects of the triple shock of Lehman Brothers going into bankruptcy, Merrill Lynch being sold to BofA in a distress sale for $ 50 billion, and AIG asking the Fed for a $ 40 billion bailout. The FTSE dropped 200 points, or around 3% in early trades.

Former US Fed governor Alan Greenspan describes it as a 'once in a century' event, and the 'worst' he's seen in his career. Lehman Brothers, which has survived over 150 years, finally went into Chapter 11 late Sunday night, putting tens of thousands of jobs at risk all over the world. Merrill Lynch, the other Wall Street major, narrowly avoided Lehman's fate by agreeing to be bought by BofA for USD 50 billion – again raising the spectre of an uncertain future for its thousands of global employees.

The US government, which bailed out Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and Bear Sterns, put its foot down with Lehman, and last minute potential buyers like Barclays walked out late Sunday night. At Lehman's US offices, television channels captured scenes of employees leaving the building with cardboard boxes, while at its European headquarters in Canary Wharf, where the bank is estimated to employ around 4000 people, the mood was sombre as employees were told to turn up for work, but not to do any business.
Commentary:
Market participants are responding by running away from risk, as well they should. That is the stuff out of which great crashes are made. The bouncing-ball pattern of declining stock markets was marked by bear market rallies each time the American and other governments stepped in to bail out the latest victim. The US government’s ability to influence events, however, seems exhausted. The Treasury and Federal Reserve can’t bail out everyone. After Lehman, the insurer AIG and Washington Mutual may be next to fail, followed by several regional banks. I see no solution except to allow American households to begin the painful process of rebuilding their balance sheets, which implies a slowing economy for the next two years. It is too late to stop the Great Crash of 2008. The question remaining is how best to pick up the pieces.

SNL PALIN PARODY

This season of SNL madness started off with Tina Fey doing an awesome job portraying Alaska Governor Sarah Palin. After the sensation of Palin photos and pictury galleries hit the internet, many commented on the resemblance between Palin and Tina Fey. Fey did as all one better as she was also able to nail the dress, body movements and even accent of Sarah Palin. In this Saturday Night Live skit, Amy Poehler does not do so bad with her Hillary Clinton as well.

Obama And McCain Visit Ground Zero On Sept 11

The rancor of the presidential campaign will come to a pause on Thursday as Republican John McCain and Democrat Barack Obama jointly visit Ground Zero, the former site of the World Trade Center, in New York City. It will be the seventh anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attack.
“All of us came together on 9/11 - not as Democrats or Republicans – but as Americans,” the pair said in a statement, the first the two campaigns have ever issued together.

Both candidates had planned to be in New York on Sept. 11 for events commemorating the attacks. On Friday, Obama called McCain to congratulate him on his convention and his convention speech the night before, according to an Obama aide. “While they were on the phone, Obama said that since they’d be in NYC together that they should go to ground zero together. McCain immediately agreed,” the aide said.

Obama campaign managers David Plouffe and McCain manager Rick Davis spoke later to work out the details and the joint statement issued today.

The statement continued: “In smoke-filled corridors and on the steps of the Capitol; at blood banks and at vigils — we were united as one American family. On Thursday, we will put aside politics and come together to renew that unity, to honor the memory of each and every American who died, and to grieve with the families and friends who lost loved ones.”

The statement said they also plan to pay tribute to the firefighters, policy and emergency responders who set “a heroic example of selfless service” and for the men and women who are now serving “in defense of the freedom and security that came under attack.” source>>>

Heading Out To Half Moon Bay This Morning To Chill...You Should Check It Out

All pics are of San Gregorio State Beach In Half Moon Bay California in the San Francisco/Oakland Bay Area.
Three of the my four favorite places to be in California, other than Oakland, is by the Ocean (San Gregorio in Half Moon Bay & Carmel ), in the desert (Palm Springs) or in the wine country (Napa Valley). With the exception of Palm Springs, which is in Southern California, these places are all here in the Bay Area and most only take anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour to get to.

Although there are numerous beautiful beaches here in the Bay Area in Northern California, my favorite is San Gregorio, which is partly a gay nude beach a breath-taking 45 minute drive to an hour away from Oakland in Half Moon Bay along Highway 1. I talked about this beautiful secluded nudist beach last year in my October 2007 blog entry(see link).

Mark and I go there year around. Above is a picture of me that Mark snapped while we were in San Gregorio over the weekend. I feel so fortunate that so much natural beauty is so close to me and that it is either very inexpensive to experience or FREE! No matter where you live, take a break from the hustle and bustle and take time to enjoy the natural beauty in your area and the sense of peace that it brings.

Oprah Winfrey Says Sarah Palin Will Not Be On Her Show Until

'Sarah Palin would be a fantastic interview, and I would love to have her on after the campaign is over,' Winfrey says in statement.

Oprah Winfrey has reportedly denied a Drudge Report item that claims the talk-show host was considering having Republican vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin on her show.
Winfrey issued a statement on Friday (September 5), saying: "The item in today's Drudge Report is categorically untrue. There has been absolutely no discussion about having Sarah Palin on my show," according to TMZ.

"At the beginning of this presidential campaign, when I decided that I was going to take my first public stance in support of a candidate, I made the decision not to use my show as a platform for any of the candidates," the statement continued. "I agree that Sarah Palin would be a fantastic interview, and I would love to have her on after the campaign is over."

The Drudge item quoted an Oprah "insider" as saying: "Half of her staff really wants Sarah Palin on. Oprah's Web site is getting tons of requests to put her on, but Oprah and a couple of her top people are adamantly against it because of Obama."

Winfrey is a longtime Obama supporter who has campaigned for him. He has appeared twice on her show — in January 2005 and October 2006 — before he announced his candidacy for president.

McCain Speech - Tired

What a yawn fest!
It is sad when the out of touch Alaskan VP nominee's acceptance speech has more excitement than the speech of the Presidential nominee.

What an anti-climactic disappointment.

I guess they sent all of the speech writers over to Sarah Palin's hotel room. The only excitement I noticed during McCain's acceptance speech were the protestors.

And did you notice the ethnic diversity of Republicans? The Republican party is simply not representative of the American people or its future. Where is the fucking diversity in the Republican party? We're not there because we are not as stupid as they would like to think that we are. This man respresents a party that is as diverse as a Celtic River Dance Show!

Republicans are anti-gay, anti-choice, anti-sex education and from the look of the audience, anti-minority. What a joke. The minorities that I saw peppered in the crowd truly need their asses whooped for even participating in that charade.

GREAT SPEECH MISS THING...BUT YOU LIED

Sarah Palin...the Republican party might be able to fool some of the people some of the time, but after eight years of deceptive republican politics, not even a passionate speech by a self proclaimed "Hockey Mom" will fool America this time.

Sure she is an accomplished and successful woman, sure she is a good mom, Ok she can read a teleprompter...BIG DEAL!

Sarah Palin is also a person who plans to keep the legacy of dishonest, divisive, and deceptive politics alive and well in America.

It all began when she launched into her attack and while there were many things that she twisted, the following false statement was blatantly deceptive:

"Listening to him (Obama) speak, it is easy to forget that, this is a man who has authored two memoirs but not even a major law or even a reforn, not even in the state senate."

The truth is that Obama during his first 3 years in the U.S. Senate sponsored 129 bills (7 were passed by the Senate and two became law) and he co-sponsored numerous bills to include:

1. Coburn-Obama Government Transparency Act of 2006 - became law,
2. Lugar-Obama Nuclear Non-proliferation and Conventional Weapons
Threat Reduction Act, - became law,
3. Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act, passed the Senate,
4. 2007 Government Ethics Bill, became law,

In all, since entering the State/U.S. Senate, Senator Obama has written 890 bills and co-sponsored another 1096.

An impressive record, for someone who supposedly has no record according to Sarah Palin.
Don't be confused by the desperate Rupublican rhetoric, check the facts.
And to Sarah Palin, for more information about Obama and his Senate record, click here or click here to get your facts STRAIGHT!

Sarah Palin Attacks And Makes History

ST. PAUL — Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska introduced herself to America before a roaring crowd at the Republican National Convention on Wednesday night as “just your average hockey mom” who was as qualified as the Democratic nominee, Senator Barack Obama, to be president of the United States.

Moments later Senator John McCain, a scrappy, rebellious former prisoner of war in Vietnam whose campaign was resurrected from near-death a year ago, was nominated by the Republican Party to be the 44th president of the United States after asking delegates, “Do you think we made the right choice” in picking Ms. Palin as the vice-presidential nominee?

The roll-call vote makes Mr. McCain, 72, the first Republican presidential candidate to share the ticket with a woman and only the second presidential candidate from a major party to do so, after Walter S. Mondale selected Geraldine A. Ferraro as his running mate for the Democratic ticket in 1984.

But the nomination was a sideshow to the evening’s main spectacle, the speech by the little-known Ms. Palin, a 44-year-old mother of five who was seeking to wrest back the narrative of her life and redefine herself to the American public after a rocky start that has put Mr. McCain’s closest aides on edge.

“Before I became governor of the great state of Alaska, I was mayor of my hometown,” Ms. Palin told the ecstatic delegates in a speech that eviscerated Mr. Obama. “And since our opponents in this presidential election seem to look down on that experience, let me explain to them what the job involves. I guess a small-town mayor is sort of like a ‘community organizer,’ except that you have actual responsibilities.”

Democratic Response To Palin Bruh ha ha

OBAMA MAINTAINS LEAD IN THE POLLS

PRINCETON, NJ -- Gallup Poll Daily tracking encompassing Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday's interviewing shows Barack Obama retaining a six percentage point, 49% top 43%, lead over John McCain among registered voters.

More specifically, there appears to be a great deal of anticipation for the prime time debut of the Republican vice presidential nominee, Gov. Sarah Palin, on Wednesday night. It is possible that her speech could receive record ratings as Americans tune in to find out more about the woman who was largely unknown until last week and who has dominated news coverage since her selection last Friday. Then, of course, McCain himself makes his acceptance speech on Thursday night. The potential impact of the Palin and McCain speeches may not be seen in the tracking data until the weekend.

Tyra On Top Of Her Game

America 's Next Top Model's Tyra Banks, tops the Forbes women on top of prime time list with $23 million during the year-long period, thanks to her work both in front of and behind the camera. In addition to her eponymous--and highly successful--daytime talk show, the model-turned-mogul has scored legions of fans and lofty paychecks as a producer and judge on the CW's hit reality competition series.

Last fall, Banks also signed a multi-year deal with Warner Bros. to develop still more projects for the big and small screens. Among her upcoming ventures: Stylista, a CW reality show set in the magazine world, and a direct-to-DVD series based on the best-selling Clique series of books for teens.

POOR, PITIFUL, PALIN - The Republican Embarassment

Palin has more surprises than a box of Cracker Jacks. McCain has gone from isn't she great to lay off! All of a sudden Republicans, the party of Anti-Choice, has become the party of we don't have a choice.

What did they use to vet Palin, a crystal ball?
When you look at the faces of the Republicans who are attempting to defend this woman in the media, they don't even believe what they are saying. Let's face it, she was a last minute token choice after the other women candidates for VP said no thanks!

Obama and Biden are telling the media that "Children are Off Limits." But you can bet that if this same story had come out about Barack Obama's daughter, he would be heading for the door and I don't mean any attached to The Whitehouse.

Palin will stand before the Republican National Convention today, with her family and her daughter's baby daddy in tow, and proclaim to the world that she is ready to succeed old man McCain if necessary. I don't think so.
When Democratic Presidential candidate John Kerry announced that his wife's cancer had returned and that he would still run for the Presidency, he was doomed. Americans want to believe that you can handle the workload that comes with helping to lead the free world, without neglecting the needs of your family. I think that we will see the same thing with Palin who is currently under investigation, has a special needs infant child, and is now dealing with a teen daughter who is pregnant.

Many working women and women rights activist will see this as an attempt to degrade a strong, independent woman instead of what it really is; a republican political ploy designed to attract disgruntled Hillary Clinton supporters. Hillary Clinton is not just "any woman" and neither is Palin. Palin wants to ban abortion, teach abstinence only, continue oil dependency and basically continue the failed social policies of the Right.

BLAME IT ON RIO - BLACK GAY MEN'S INTERNATIONAL SEXCAPADES

Men in most societies are hunters and more and more black gay and bisexual men are expanding their sex seeking-hunting grounds beyond the American mainland.

Although Puerto Rico has long been a favorite getaway of men in the know, more and more black gay and bisexual men , over the past decade or so, have expanded their vacation and erotic haunts to "gay friendly" Caribbean and South American destinations that have large populations of men of African descent such as the Dominican Republic and Brazil.

Hey, one look at men like Dominican track star Felix Sanchez and you get the picture.

But what impact does our ever expanding field of international sex partners, in an ever shrinking world, have on HIV/AIDS prevention efforts?

Some Black HIV positive men have described these get-aways as an opportunity to be "normal" again. This might suggest that some of these men use this time of international anonymity to be uninhibited and unconcerned about their HIV status while abroad.

This is just a little food for thought and a word of caution to our brothers in America and abroad to continue to enjoy the international flavors of men of African descent but to do it safely and responsibly.

Holiday Over....Now Back To Work

The Republican Party - One Huge Hot Mess

Karma is a mutha!

It is day one of the Republican National Convention and we have learned that John McCaine's poorly vetted VP running mate, Sarah Palin, the self described "Soccer Mom" and Abstinance only advocate, has disclosed that her 17 year old daughter is 5 months pregnant. We also learned, soon after the announcement of her selection by McCain, that Palin is under investigation for abuse of power, how Republican of her.

Republican Evangelicals even asked their congregations to pray for rain during Obama' s nomination and karma has responded with hurricane Gustav during McCaine's nomination.

When will the so called "men of the cloth" realize that politically charged, negative preaching from the pulpit is just asking for it!

I think that the American people, regardless of political affiliation, can see that something is not right in the Republican Party. And it isn't the fact that the Republican Party is 93% white. The problem is that Republican politicians do not know how to function when they can't use fear to get Americans to vote for them.
John McCain is desperate and it shows.

I only hope that Democrats who don't like Obama, will pay close attention to the actions of the Republican alternative and snap out of their Hillary Clinton or nothing trance and vote for change (Obama).

BACK FROM SAN DIEGO AND LOVED IT

I haven't been blogging because...that's right, I have been producing another event! This time in San Diego, located in Southern California about 20 miles from the Mexican border (California's 2nd largest city). I was there for 7 days during the Labor Day weekend producing a medical conference. It is no secret to my readers that I love living in California and enjoy the amazing geographic diversity of our cities. Below are some pics that I took while there. San Diego is truly one of America's most beautiful cities.
If you live in California and have not made it down there...you are missing out on a beautiful tropical mecca.
If you live outside of California.....time to plan your next vacation!
