The Transgender Leadership Conference (TLC) was founded three years ago because of the frequent discrimination that transgender people experience in nearly every institution in California. That is one reason that we strongly believe that the best way to address this discrimination is to change the institutions that are committing it or allowing it to happen. The Transforming Institutions Project is our way of doing that.
This project houses nearly a dozen unique, effective efforts to change the way that transgender people are treated in the state. Each one focuses on a vital institution and uses common-sense strategies to create change within that institution.
