African American & Blind Person Makes History As Governor Of NYC


David Paterson made history when he was appointed the first African American to hold the post of Lieutenant Governor by Eliott Spitzer. He's also legally blind. Today 53-year Patterson, who has been legally blind since infancy, makes history again as he becomes the first African American Governor of NY State, as the now former Governor, Spitzer, resigns in disgrace.
